A well-planned business lunch can make your company or organization look great and impress your guests. Coordinating such an event may appear daunting, but it’s easy when you plan properly.
Set the Scene
You don’t always need to schedule your luncheon meetings at the company headquarters or in a nearby restaurant. For a change of pace, choose an unusual setting, such as a public garden, local museum or art gallery.
For a memorable meeting, hire a local truck to cater the meal. Gourmet food trucks will work with your plan and budget to create a menu exclusively for you. If you need rentals, such as tables, chairs, linens and china, most food truck operators can arrange that, as well.
Decorate with lovely flower arrangements. Economical bouquets can be picked up at a grocery store and popped into clear glass vases. If you place flower arrangements in the center of the luncheon tables, be sure that diners can see over them.
Meet, Greet and Dine
Buffet dining is often easier to manage – and less expensive – than having servers deliver a plated meal to each diner. Choose foods that most people will eat, such as meats, sandwiches or tacos, and be sure to offer a vegetarian option. Avoid foods that are difficult to eat, messy or require you to eat with your hands, such as corn on the cob. Use place cards to identify each dish on the buffet table. Be sure to note if the dish contains nuts. Most gourmet food trucks can arrange a buffet luncheon and serve large groups with ease.
If your meeting continues past lunch time, ensure that participants have access to snacks – both sweet and healthy – and beverages, such as bottled water and coffee.
If much material will be covered during the meeting or if you plan to distribute numerous printouts, consider emailing the materials to participants after the event or provide them with a low-memory flash drive that they can take when they leave.
